Big City Adventures
Other than Houston, some children have never stepped foot into a big city. This week of camp will transport campers into some of the biggest cities in China to open their eyes to new sights and sounds in a new way– all while learning a new language.
Shanghai Surprise – Did you know that Shanghai is one of the most populous in China? It’s also the wealthiest city! Campers will find out why and be exposed to Mandarin immersion while learning about its ports, and history.
Let’s Get Around – In China, there are so many ways to get around. Commuters use bikes, busses, or drive on a network of elevated highways! In fact, the Maglev, the world’s fastest train is in China! Campers will be exposed to the metro systems and new vocabulary pertaining to fun and different ways to get around town!
Linguist Apprentices (Ages 3-5) – Through music and play, campers will develop their conversational skills in a second language. Children will engage in arts and crafts and hands-on projects while learning another language.
Language Ambassadors (Ages 6-10) – Campers will participate in project-based learning activities that will help them connect the foreign language to meaning, providing them the opportunity to develop their conversational skills while learning about fun and interesting topics.
