Masters of Calligraphy
Calligraphies and brush paintings are very common and important in Chinese society. By learning Calligraphy, campers will get a deeper understanding of Chinese culture since symbolism is an important part of Chinese art.
Campers will be introduced to pictographic characters and the meaning they reflect and will develop their own signature and create their own Calligraphy artwork using a writing brush and ink on Xuan (rice) paper.
Campers will also learn the different calligraphy styles and the history behind them. Practicing Chinese Calligraphy will help campers develop visual awareness and help them memorize the characters better.
Linguist Apprentices (Ages 3-5) – Through music and play, campers will develop their conversational skills in a second language. Children will engage in arts and crafts and hands-on projects while learning another language.
Language Ambassadors (Ages 6-10) – Campers will participate in project-based learning activities that will help them connect the foreign language they are learning to meaning, providing them the opportunity to develop their conversational skills while learning about fun and interesting topics.
