Camp COVID-19 Warning, Waiver and Release

Please become familiar with the following safety protocols before having your child attend camp:

COVID-19 Pre-Camp Protocols

  • We will not require campers to be tested for COVID-19 prior to camp, but we request that parents monitor their child’s temperature and screen for any symptoms (as well as any other person living in the child’s household) for the 14 days prior to camp.
  • Please let us know immediately if any person living with the child has been diagnosed with COVI-19 or has been in close contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19.
  • Parents or caregivers must complete a COVID-19 Questionnaire before the first day of camp. This questionnaire will be emailed to you before the first day of camp and can be completed online.
  • Every camper must have a current immunization record on file before the first day of camp to attend our programs.

COVID-19 Safety Protocols at Camp

  • Language Kids World staff will check the temperature of all campers upon arrival. All staff members’ temperatures will also be monitored upon arrival.
  • We want to limit exposure to COVID-19, and we are limiting camp entrance to Language Kids World staff, campers, and authorized personnel only. Only campers will be allowed inside the classrooms and areas where camp takes place. Parents or authorized caregivers must drop their children off and pick their children up at camp either via the carpool or by the camp entrance and may not come inside the classrooms.
  • Children must wear a mask during the day, except when eating lunch and snacks, or when drinking or playing outdoors. Please note that as the COVID-19 situation changes, we may decide to make mask-wearing optional for campers.
  • Teachers and staff must wear a mask while at camp.
  • We suggest not having anyone age 65 or older picking or dropping your child up unless they are staying in their vehicle and dropping off or picking the child up via the carpool.
  • If a child displays symptoms of COVID-19, we will call the child’s parent, authorized caregiver, or emergency contact immediately to pick their child up. The child will be isolated as much as possible and kept away from other children while he or she is being picked up.
  • If a child or any person living with the child is diagnosed with COVID-19 or is exposed to a person diagnosed with COVID-19, parents or caregivers must let Language Kids World know immediately by calling 281-565-1388 or emailing info@languagekids.com
  • Language Kids World teachers and staff will carry out regular disinfecting and sanitation of the classrooms.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available for campers and staff, and teachers and staff members will take campers on regular trips to wash their hands.
  • Campers will stay with their group the entire time.

By participating in Language Kids World’s programs and interacting with Language Kids World teachers and staff, the parent or authorized caregiver registering a child in camp, on behalf of himself or herself and all members of his or her household:

  1. Assumes the risk that a Participant may be exposed or infected by COVID-19 by attending the program and all risks associated with COVID-19;
  2. Agrees to comply with Language Kids World guidelines for the program;
  3. Understands the risks of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 while participating in the program;
  4. Holds harmless Language Kids Houston, its employees, agents, and representatives of and from all claims.
  • We reserve to make changes to our mask-wearing policy at any time and without notice.

Assumption of the Risk and Waiver of Liability Relating to Coronavirus/COVID-19

Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness, personal injury, permanent disability, or death. Parents and campers must follow all safety protocols that Language Kids World has established for the protection of campers, families, and staff members. Safety protocols and instructions may be provided in writing or orally and they must be followed by campers, parents or caregivers, or any person dropping off or picking campers up from camp.

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. Participation in our programs is voluntary and Language Kids World does not make any warranty or representation that a COVID-19 infection will not occur through participation in Language Kids World programs.

Language Kids World cannot guarantee that the camper or any members of their household will not come into contact with other individuals who are infected with COVID-19 or that the camper will not become infected with COVID-19.

Sign-In Procedures

All parents must sign in their child every day. Parents must walk their children into the classroom and sign the sign-in sheet. Parents that do not walk their child into the classroom and sign their child in will be called to come back to camp to sign their child in. If a parent fails to sign in their child at camp more than once, Language Kids Houston may choose to unregister the child and issue a prorated refund for the days that the child did not attend camp.

Sign-Out Procedures

  • Language Kids Houston teachers will release children only to authorized individuals, as designated on the registration form. Only parents and authorized individuals may pick children up from the program. Parents must provide the name and contact information of any persons authorized to pick the child up, and that information must be provided upon registration before the student is allowed to attend the program.
  • All children must be signed out every class by a parent or an authorized individual. Failure to sign your child out will be regarded as an “incident” and may result in suspension from the program, and Language Kids will not be obligated to refund for the missed day(s) of camp.
  • Only adults 18 years and older are authorized to pick children up and showing a photo ID is mandatory upon request. Parents must notify in writing if there are any changes in the persons authorized to pick up their child. Phone calls are not accepted. Children without written permission will not be allowed to leave the school. Parents can notify Language Kids Houston in writing via email: info@LanguageKids.com

Safety Education and Emergency Drill

Every Monday morning, before starting camp, teachers will have a session in which they will explain to the children the safety guidelines for the specific location where each camp is held at. Teachers will also carry out an emergency drill, so children know how to react in case of an emergency at camp. Please bring your child on time on Monday morning, since each child must receive this information. Teachers will repeat the safety education session and emergency drill for those students who were not present, but this may disrupt camp planned activities.

Behavior expectations

Language Kids Houston’s language acquisition program will adhere to Language Kids Behavior Policy and Code of Conduct in order to ensure the safety of all the students. Services will be suspended if disrespectful or unsafe behavior towards another student or staff member is displayed by either a student or a parent of a student. Parents must make sure their children understand the expected behavior towards other students and staff. All children enrolled in camp must be potty-trained. In the event a child’s behavior becomes severely disruptive, unsafe to him/herself or others or the child does not respond to intervention, the parent/authorized caregiver will be called to pick him/her up immediately. If severe behavior continues, my child may be removed from the program.

Medications

Teachers will not administer medications at camp. The only medications administered will be disinfectant ointment, and teachers will apply a band-aid or an ice pack when needed. If your child has an EpiPen available, please make sure to let the teachers know and email us at info@languagekids.com to let us know you will be dropping off an EpiPen with your child.

Accidents at camp

If your child has an accident at camp that requires medical attention, we will call you immediately. If we are unable to reach you, we will call the person or persons you have designated as emergency contacts.  In the event we are unable to reach the parent or guardian or other persons listed as emergency contacts, our teachers will call 911 or take your child to the nearest urgent care facility.
