Amazing Aztecs & Magnificent Mayans
Fasten your seat belts because campers are going to create their own time machine to learn about the Aztec and Mayan empires. Children will learn new vocabulary as they journey to ancient Mexico and Central America to explore how the civilizations lived and thrived.
Campers will learn all about the foundation of the Aztec Empire and make their own Boturini Codex retelling the tale of the peregrination of the Aztecs and the foundation of Tenochtitlan. Children will also carve their own Aztec Calendar and learn why the Aztecs were master scientists.
Campers will also get introduced to the Mayans, visit Tikal, Uxmal, and Chichen Itza, dive into a cenote in Tulum, and learn all about their magnificent pyramids in the south of Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, and El Salvador. Campers will sculpt their own Mayan pyramid and learn why the Mayans are considered such amazing astronomers.
Linguist Apprentices (Ages 3-5) – Through music and play, campers will develop their conversational skills in a second language. Children will engage in arts and crafts and hands-on projects while learning another language.
Language Ambassadors (Ages 6-10) – Campers will participate in project-based learning activities that will help them connect the foreign language to meaning, providing them the opportunity to develop their conversational skills while learning about fun and interesting topics.
