Camp Safari

Mandarin Chinese 

Regular Immersion Session

9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Whether pretending we are animal rescue heroes or learning about animals that live in China, Language Kids World students will have a blast in our “Camp Safari” summer camp. Children will learn about snow leopards, yaks, tigers, macaques and elephants. Campers will also learn all about animals that live in a bamboo forest, such as giant pandas, red pandas, takins and musk deer.

Linguist Apprentices (Ages 3-5) – Through music and play, campers will develop their conversational skills in a second language. Children will engage in arts and crafts and hands-on projects while learning another language.

Language Ambassadors (Ages 6-10) – Campers will participate in project-based learning activities that will help them connect the foreign language they are learning to meaning, providing them the opportunity to develop their conversational skills while learning about fun and interesting topics.

Early Immersion Session

(Optional session – available only at some locations)

7:00 AM – 9:00 AM

Supplemental thematic unit: Globetrotting with Animals – Children will learn about animals from other parts of the world!  Lions, Tigers, and Pandas!?  Yes, campers will find out what lands they inhabit, all while learning a new language.

Linguist Apprentices (Ages 3-5) – Campers will work on phonetic skills development in small groups, using rhymes and rhythm to further develop their conversational skills.

Language Ambassadors (Ages 6-10) – Campers will use this time to work in small groups to develop reading and writing skills in the target language and practice their conversational skills by talking about the stories they are reading and writing in the second language.

Afternoon Immersion Session

(Optional session – available only at some locations)

3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Supplemental thematic unit: Texas SafariTexas has a wide variety of wildlife!  From white-tailed deer to armadillos, to alligators, campers will find out what animals the Lone Star state has in its own backyard!
